THE STORY OF A LITTLE PRINCE AND HIS QUEEN

A former prisoner, cut off from her family, is arranged by a broker to marry a mentally delayed young man, recently orphaned, to secure legal papers for her son.

Hoàng is 25 years old, but his mind is developed like that of a 6-year-old child because of epilepsy from birth.
He had an elderly father who took care of him but passed away just 3 months ago. As the only son in the family, he inherited the house and garden. His older sisters are much older than him and married far away, so none of them can take care of him. They decided to arrange a marriage for him so he would have someone to look after him for the rest of his life.

Dĩn, 36 years old, went to prison at a young age. She went to prison for intentional murder and returned after 6 years due to good behavior. Her parents had divorced and both refused to let her be added back to their household registration. She wandered from place to place for many years, doing manual labor jobs.

Quý, 14 years old, is Dĩn's son, but his face looks older than his age. He doesn't go to school but does odd jobs with his mother. He came into Dĩn's life unexpectedly, and he is close to her as both a son and a companion. The boy dreams of getting an ID card soon so he can work in a factory and earn money to take care of his mother.

Thiện, 35 years old, has divorced his wife and lives alone in a scrap collection area where he rents the land and subleases it. Thiện lives in the same area as Hoàng’s family. He once worked as a migrant laborer in Taiwan but was deported back to Vietnam. Thiện has no specific occupation; he brokers everything from arranging marriages with Taiwanese and Korean men, to real estate, and even human trafficking across the border.

The story is set in 2010, following Dĩn, who was imprisoned for murder at a young age and rejected by her family. She works as a manual laborer at construction sites in remote areas without stable housing. With the hope that her son can legally obtain identification when he comes of age, she seeks out a broker, Thiện, who arranges her marriage to Hoàng, a man with an intellectual disability.
Hoàng's father recently passed away, leaving him—the only son—a house and a piece of land. Hoàng's older sisters agree to 'buy' him a wife to care for him for the rest of his life, so they turn to Thiện.

Unbeknownst to everyone, Thiện, a man abandoned by his wife and now homeless, harbors ambitions to seize Hoàng’s land. He strikes a deal with Dĩn, promising that her son can attend vocational school and obtain legal identification, on the condition that she helps him sell Hoàng's land.

Strangely and naturally, a bond forms between Dĩn and Hoàng, despite her son Quý's discomfort.

Quý, having to act as both an older brother and son to Hoàng, initially dislikes him, but their relationship grows closer and more positive over time. The lives of the three outcasts, abandoned in the house and garden, become increasingly warm and happy.

But how long can this peace last in the face of Thiện’s greed? What will become of Dĩn if her deal with Thiện is exposed?
